What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 申, the first month of autumn, with a fire Day Master. 囚 — the Self restrains the season and is confined by the effort. Fire controls metal, and in a metal month there is a great deal to control.
申 holds 庚 metal, 壬 水 and 戊 earth. The metal is what you act on; the 壬 is the problem. 申 is where water begins its cycle, and water is what puts fire out. A fire Self here faces the season's material and the season's turn at the same time.
《窮通寶鑑》 reads early autumn as the point where the year's shortage flips from heat to cold. For a fire Day Master that means the instruction reverses too: from the seventh month onward you are read for what sustains you rather than for what checks you. Wood is the first answer and fire alongside you is the second.
The consequence: support that was surplus in summer is load-bearing now, and water that was necessary in summer is expensive here. The same element changes sign with the month, and this is the clearest example of it in the year.
