A 土 Earth Day Master and a 木 Wood Day Master

The two Day Masters

Mechanically, this is 剋我 kè wǒ — they control you. Your Day Master is Earth; the other chart's is 木 mù, Wood, and Wood is the phase that breaks ground. Anything that controls the Day Master occupies the 官殺 guānshā seat, the officer, which the tradition treats as constraint with a warrant rather than as injury.

《三命通會》 is blunt about the exposure: 土衰遇木，必遭傾陷 — "Earth that is thin, meeting Wood, is certain to suffer subsidence." 傾陷 is a specific word. It is not breakage; it is the ground giving way underneath, the collapse of something that was holding. And that is the risk, but the arrangement is not a misfortune, because ground nobody breaks is not fertile ground, it is hardpan. A field is a field precisely because something goes into it. Left alone, Earth's own virtue turns against it: what holds becomes what has set, and what has set becomes what nothing can be planted in. Wood is the only phase that turns your mass into a place where things happen. In a shared life this shows up as the person who keeps asking why an arrangement exists, and who is the reason your household is not identical to the one you had eight years ago.

Your cost is real and is charged in the currency you mind most. Earth keeps things — routines, obligations, an agreed version of events — and being opened means what you were keeping becomes visible, including the parts you were holding precisely so they would not have to be discussed. The subsidence in the classical phrase is not dramatic. It is a slow loss of the sense that the ground is settled.

Their cost is that pushing takes everything they have, and that the one who initiates disturbance is always the one blamed for it. A person in this seat spends years being described as restless or difficult by a household that would have quietly compacted without them.

Something to check rather than take on trust. Think of a change they pressed for in the last two years that you resisted at the time. Ask whether you have since kept it. Then ask which of you now describes it as your idea.
