A 土 Earth Day Master and a 水 Water Day Master
The first thing the tradition settles about two charts is not sentiment but direction: which way the traffic runs between the two Day Masters. Here it is 我剋 — you control them.

The two Day Masters
The relation is 我剋 wǒ kè — you control them. Your Day Master is Earth; the other chart's is 水 shuǐ, Water, and Earth is the phase that holds water in place. In the ten-god vocabulary the element you control sits in the 財 cái seat, the wealth position, which between two people is less about money than about what you treat as yours to direct.
《三命通會》 sets both limits in a single line: 土能剋水，水多土流 — "Earth is able to control Water; where the Water is plentiful, the Earth is carried away." Take the second clause as seriously as the first, because it describes a slower event and therefore a more likely one. The tradition's reason for refusing to call 剋 an affliction is unusually literal here. Water without banks is not free water, it is flood, and flood ends as marsh. Water with banks is a river, and a river arrives somewhere. Every dyke, channel and reservoir in the classical vocabulary of Earth is the same idea: containment is not the opposite of movement, it is the condition of movement going anywhere. In a shared life you are the one who says where. The deadline, the budget, the address, the day the thing actually happens — these are yours, and without them the other person's very real fluency has no destination.
What they pay is the cost of every course ever cut. To be given a direction is to be denied the others, and Water's nature is to find its own level rather than to be told one. A person in this seat will accept the arrangement for a long time and will not usually argue, because arguing is not what Water does; it goes around, or it goes quiet, or it goes underground.
What you pay is 土流. The bank is eroded by the very thing it holds, invisibly, from within the arrangement. The material does not fail all at once. It thins where the pressure is constant, and the collapse, when it comes, is at the point that had been holding longest without comment.
