A wood Day Master born in 寅, the tiger month
The month pillar is the strongest single influence on whether a Day Master is supported. 寅 is the first month of spring; it opens at 立春 Start of Spring, around 4 February, and runs to about 5 March.

What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 寅, the first month of spring, with a wood Day Master. This is 得令 — holding the mandate — and it is the strongest position available to you in the whole of the chart.
寅 is not simply wood. It carries 甲 wood, 丙 fire and 戊 earth inside it, which makes it the most active branch in the set: the material, the warmth that draws it up, and the ground it stands in, all present at once. A wood Self born here starts with everything it needs and needs almost nothing supplied.
The 調候 tradition that 《窮通寶鑑》 codifies asks what the season is short of rather than what the chart is short of, and in the first month the answer is heat. 寅 is early spring; the ground has thawed but not warmed. Fire is what the month wants, and 寅 already holds a little of it.
The consequence, stated without flattery: a Self this well placed is rarely helped by more support. Adding wood or water to a chart that already holds the mandate produces surplus, and surplus in this method is a disposal problem. What such a chart usually needs is somewhere to spend itself — output, or something that shapes it.
得令 decides how every later section is read. It does not decide the outcome of anything.
