What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 寅, the first month of spring, with an earth Day Master. 死 by the seasonal table — the season controls the Self — and spring is the hardest quarter of the year for earth.
寅 holds 甲 wood, 丙 fire and 戊 earth. The wood is what breaks ground open, and in the first month it is rising. But two of the three stems inside the branch work for you: 丙 produces earth, and 戊 is your own phase, standing at the point where earth begins its cycle. The month that formally controls you contains more of you than any other spring branch does.
《窮通寶鑑》 reads the first month as thawed but unwarmed, and for an earth Day Master the requirement is the same as the season's: fire, to warm the ground before anything is asked of it. Cold spring soil does nothing regardless of how much of it there is.
