What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 酉, the second month of autumn, with a wood Day Master. 死 — the season controls the Self, and 酉 does it more completely than 申 does.
酉 is one of the four pure branches and contains only 辛 metal. Where 申 held water inside it as a way back, 酉 holds nothing but the thing that cuts you. Mid-autumn is metal at its peak with no dilution, and a wood Self born here starts from the least supported position in the year.
The 調候 reading is specific about the remedy. 《窮通寶鑑》 sets out the eighth month as the point where metal is sharpest, and what the classics reach for is fire — fire controls metal, and a wood Self needs the pressure lifted before it needs anything else. Water is the second answer, since it turns the metal's force into supply.
