What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 巳, the first month of summer, with a metal Day Master. 死 by the seasonal table — the season controls the Self — and yet 巳 is more complicated than that verdict alone.
巳 holds 丙 fire, 庚 metal and 戊 earth. The fire controls you and it leads the branch. But 巳 is also where metal begins its twelve-stage cycle, 長生, and the 戊 earth inside produces you. The month that formally destroys you is the month your phase starts in, and the classical texts hold both readings without resolving them.
《窮通寶鑑》 turns from the fourth month onward to heat as the year's problem, and for metal that is doubly the case. What the chart wants is water, which both cools the season and is your own output, and earth to keep producing you underneath it.
What it does not want is more fire, and this is where the ordinary reading of pressure as opportunity fails — the pressure is the season itself.
