What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 未, the last month of summer, with a wood Day Master. Formally this is 囚, the Self confined by restraining an earth month — but 未 is a peculiar month for wood and the peculiarity is the point.
未 holds 己 earth, 丁 fire and 乙 wood, and it is the 木庫, the vault of wood. Your own phase is stored in the branch that is otherwise working against you. The tradition treats a vault as something that holds rather than something that blocks, which means what is inside can be opened by the right year or the right decade rather than being simply absent.
The season is still hot and 未 is dry earth. 《窮通寶鑑》 reads the sixth month as the last of the heat, and its instruction is unchanged from midsummer: water is what the month lacks, and dry ground makes the need sharper rather than softer.
The practical position: a wood Self here is not supported by the month, but it is not stripped either — it has a reserve that most of the losing months do not offer.
