What the month does to the Day Master
Born in 午, the second month of summer, with an earth Day Master. 相 — the season produces the Self — and it produces it harder than any other month of the year.
午 is a cardinal branch holding 丁 fire and 己 earth. Both serve you: the fire makes earth and the earth is your own phase. On the count this is the most generous month an earth Self can have.
Which is exactly why 《窮通寶鑑》 is at its most emphatic here. The fifth month's problem is heat without qualification, and for earth the specific failure is 燥土 — ground fired hard, holding nothing, growing nothing. The classical texts are consistent that an earth Day Master in midsummer with no water is not strong but brittle, and that the strength shown by the count is not the strength that matters.
