A 火 Fire Day Master and a 金 Metal Day Master
The first thing the tradition settles about two charts is not sentiment but direction: which way the traffic runs between the two Day Masters. Here it is 我剋 — you control them.

The two Day Masters
The relation is 我剋 wǒ kè — you control them. Your Day Master is Fire; the other chart's is 金 jīn, Metal, and Fire is the one phase that acts on Metal. In the ten-god vocabulary, what your Day Master controls occupies the 財 cái seat, the wealth position, which in a reading of two people means something more uncomfortable than money: it is the position of what you treat as material.
《三命通會》 gives the mechanism with its limit attached: 火能剋金,金多火熄 — "Fire is able to control Metal; where the Metal is plentiful, the Fire goes out." Both clauses matter, and most readers stop after the first. Now the reason the tradition refuses to call 剋 a misfortune. Metal that has never met fire is ore. It is not a tool, not a blade, not an instrument, not anything that can be used — it is material in the ground, and the entire distinction between ore and implement is the smelt. Fire is not what damages metal, it is what makes metal into something. In a pairing, that is not a metaphor for improving anybody. It is a description of a real dynamic: precision that has never been tested stays theoretical, and this pairing tests it constantly.
What they pay is the heat. Being worked means losing the shape they were already comfortable in before receiving the one they will have, and there is an interval in the middle where they have neither. A person of this phase values finish and dislikes being seen unfinished, so that interval is expensive for them in a way you may find it hard to take seriously.
What you pay is in the second clause. A fire fed more metal than it can carry does not forge, it simply goes out. Your position requires sustained intensity — forging is not a thing done gently over a long period — and this pairing will ask for that intensity for years rather than hours. Fire that has been asked to work continuously stops being able to work at all.
Something to check against the record. Think of a thing you pushed them on twelve months ago. Ask whether what came out of it had an edge, or whether they simply gave way.
