A 金 Metal Day Master and a 金 Metal Day Master
The first thing the tradition settles about two charts is not sentiment but direction: which way the traffic runs between the two Day Masters. Here it is 比和 — parity.

The two Day Masters
Both Day Masters occupy one phase — 比和 bǐhé, parity. Yours is Metal, and so is theirs. Neither of you produces the other, neither of you controls the other, and so the entire five-phase apparatus is silent on the question of who gives way. That silence is the condition, and in this particular phase it is a loud one.
《滴天髓》 makes the distinction that matters here: 剛柔不一也,不可制者,引其性情而已矣 — "hardness and softness are not uniform; what cannot be governed is merely drawn out along its own disposition." The counsel is not to force a thing into the shape you want but to lead it by the grain it already has. This pairing offers nothing to govern. Nothing in the configuration is yielding, and nothing is going to become yielding through familiarity.
The gift is that neither of you needs anything softened. Standards are shared without being negotiated, sloppiness is offensive to you both, and there is none of the interpretive work that a mixed pairing demands — no reading of tone, no wondering what was meant, no diplomatic layer over the actual sentence. Between two people of this phase, what is said is the content. That is rarer and more restful than people who have not had it understand.
The cost sits in the same fact. Two edges meeting do not sharpen one another; a whetstone is not made of steel. Each disagreement is conducted with precision on both sides, and precision has no mechanism for conceding — it can only be more exact. The characteristic injury here is the nick, small, clean, remembered, and not mentioned. Households of this configuration accumulate a long record of accurate remarks that nobody has ever withdrawn, because withdrawing one would mean it had been imprecise. Drawing out the disposition, in a pairing this hard, means finding what an edge is for: concentrated hardness wants an outlet rather than an opponent. Neither of you supplies that to the other. It has to come from elsewhere, from work or from people outside the pair, and the pairing does better when both of you have somewhere to spend an edge that is not each other.
Something to check rather than assume. Find the last occasion on which either of you said the other had been right, with nothing attached to the end of the sentence.

The four pillars, the Day Master, the five-phase count, the day’s almanac read against the chart and the true solar time working — about 2,700 words — are free and need no account. The chart is computed in the browser; nothing about the birth is sent anywhere.
